Our Story
How HAVEN “Came to Bee”: The 1978 Story
The heart of HAVEN was formed in the quiet, sun-drenched gardens of an American suburb back in 1978. As a six-year-old, my world was defined by sprawling lawns, towering shade trees, and a magical backyard playground where laughter filled the air. I spent my days mesmerized by the constant, industrious hum of honeybees flitting through the clover—nature’s tiny architects working in perfect harmony with the land.
The Silent Decline of Our Natural World
Fast forward to September 2023. While walking through a local park, reflecting on those carefree days of my youth, I noticed a troubling absence: the silence was deafening. The bees were gone. This stark realization ignited a deep passion for melittology (the study of bees) and a mission to uncover why our most vital pollinators were disappearing from our landscapes.
My research revealed a global crisis caused by the Varroa mite, pesticide use, and habitat loss. Since the late 1990s, commercial beekeepers have reported losses of up to 90%, a devastation that threatens food security, biodiversity, and the very ingredients that power the natural beauty industry.
The Intersection of Bees, Skin Health, and Organic Luxury
Most people don’t realize that the best organic makeup lines and certified organic makeup brands rely entirely on the health of bee populations.
