These introductory words greet us on the leaflet we received when we visited Buyuk Chamlija Socio Eco Techno Village near Centurion, South Africa, on a romantic day out. We immersed ourselves in the serene environment and were not disappointed.

Exploring the Village’s Natural Beauty

As we took a leisurely stroll through the village, we admired the peaceful ambiance. The village serves as a haven for nature enthusiasts. While exploring the grounds, we encountered a delightful variety of plants and flowers that truly enhanced our visit.

First, we marveled at the ancient olive trees, with their gnarled trunks and silvery-green leaves that evoke a sense of history and tranquility. Fig trees graced the landscape, offering broad leaves that provided shade. In season, we could have seen ripe figs ready to enjoy.

The pomegranate trees added a splash of color with their vibrant orange-red fruits. Depending on the season, we might have witnessed the delicate pink or white blossoms of cherry trees in full bloom. Unfortunately, there were none during our visit. Meanwhile, the meadows and pathways adorned themselves with wildflowers, including daisies, cosmos, and poppies. After our sublime walk, we headed to Tadinda Turkish Restaurant for an authentic Turkish lunch. We indulged in traditional clay oven dishes, savory pides, and a selection of meze bowls, which were all delicious! As we continued to explore the serene surroundings, we encountered a delightful array of animals. We came across friendly goats, graceful alpacas, gentle sheep, cattle, and ponies. The Bird Park Sanctuary houses various species of pheasants, ducks, and fowls that visitors can feed. Their vibrant plumage and melodious calls create a soothing atmosphere. Children can observe and learn about different bird species, enhancing their knowledge of nature and wildlife.
